Mangalkot constituency elected a Trinamool Congress candidate in 2016

The Mangalkot assembly constituency is currently held by
Trinamool Congress leader Siddiqullah Chowdhury, who defeated Sahajahan
Choudhury of the CPM in the 2016 assembly elections. The seat, one of West
Bengal’s 294 assembly constituencies, falls under the Bolpur Lok Sabha
constituency.

The Mangalkot assembly constituency is politically leaned
towards the ruling Trinamool Congress, which is headed by Mamata Banerjee.
