The Mohammadabad assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh (UP) saw Dr Arvind Roy of the Indian National Congress (INC) take on Alka Rai of the BJP, Madhvendra Rai of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Suhaib alias Mannu Ansari of the Samajwadi Party (SP).
Alka Rai of the BJP had won the seat in 2017 Assembly elections, defeating runner-up Sibgatulla Ansari of the BSP by a margin of 32,727 votes.
In the 2012 Assembly election, QED’s Sibgatulla Ansari had won the seat by defeating the SP’s Rajesh Rai by a margin of 7,333 votes.

The Mohammadabad assembly constituency falls under the Ghazipur district in UP and is one of the five assembly constituencies under the Ballia Lok Sabha constituency.
The Mohammadabad assembly constituency voted in the seventh phase of the UP Assembly elections in 2022 on March 7, when 54 assembly seats, spread across 9 districts, went to the polls. UP is voting in seven phases, and the last phase was held on March 7.
Results will be declared on March 10, along with results of elections being held in other states and Union Territories (UTs).
