The Mughal Gardens will be open to the general public from Saturday, a press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday said.

Visitors are allowed in the gardens only through advanced online booking. As a precautionary measure, walk-in entry won’t be available this year either, the statement said.

The main attraction of this year’s “Udyanotsav” is the 11 sorts of tulips that are expected to bloom in phases during February. Flower carpets in magnificent designs will also be on display within the central lawns.

The dominant colour schemes of this year’s flowers are white, yellow, red and orange. A little cactus corner has also been landscaped, together with some air-purifying plants.

President Ram Nath Kovind opened the annual “Udyanotsav” at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on Thursday.

“The Mughal Gardens will remain open for the public from February 12, 2022 to March 16, 2022 (except on Mondays, which are maintenance days) between 1000 hrs and 1700 hrs (last entry at 1600 hrs),” the statement said.

Seven pre-booked hourly slots are  available between 1000 hrs and 1700 hrs, it said, adding that the last entry is going to be at 1600 hrs.

Each slot can accommodate a maximum of 100 people.

Visitors can carry mobile phones during the visit, the statement said.

However, they’re asked to not bring any water bottles, briefcases, handbags, ladies purses, cameras, radios, transistors, boxes, umbrellas, arms, ammunition and eatables.

Hand sanitisers, drinks, toilets and first aid/medical facilities will be provided at various points along the  route. During the tour, visitors must follow COVID-19 protocols like wearing masks and maintaining social distance,  the statement said.

They will undergo thermal screening at the entry point, it said, adding that no visitor will be allowed without a mask. Entry and exit for all visitors will be from Gate 35 of the President’s Estate near North Avenue.
