Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty’s statement was recorded by the Mumbai Police hours after her husband Raj Kundra’s judicial custody was extended to July 27. Kundra is accused of alleged production and distribution of pornographic films through mobile applications.

Shetty’s statement was recorded at her house in suburban Juhu in the afternoon, an official said, as per PTI reports.

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch conducted a search of the house and seized a laptop, the official added.

According to the PTI source, Shetty was questioned because she was a director of Kundra’s firm Viaan Industries. She had resigned from the post.

Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19. The 45-year-old has been booked under sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

After a Mumbai court decided to extend Kundra’s judicial custody, his lawyer, as per ANI, said that the British-Indian businessman will appeal at the High Court

“Raj Kundra’s arrest is illegal. There is not a single video that can be called pornographic. A 4,000-page chargesheet has been filed but the police were not even able to point out any sexually explicit act in the video which demonstrated illegality under section 67a. The rest of the sections applied are available. Supreme Court had earlier released Munawar Farooqui on the same grounds,” the lawyer told ETimes.

Shilpa Shetty appealed to her fans to watch her upcoming film ‘Hungama 2’. In a social media post, the actor said that the film and people involved in its making shouldn’t suffer.
