JD(U) president Nitish Kumar was sworn-in as Bihar’s Chief Minister for a seventh time at a ceremony on Monday in capital Patna. BJP’s Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi were sworn-in as Kumar’s deputies at the ceremony at Raj Bhavan.
Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah and Maharashtra’s former CM Devendra Fadnavis were among the participants in the ceremony.
The NDA on Sunday chose Kumar for another term as the Chief Minister of Bihar. BJP’s Sushil Kumar Modi who served as Bihar’s deputy CM from 2005 to 2013 and from 2017 to 2020, wasn’t chosen as Kumar’s deputy for another term.
Assembly elections in Bihar were held in three phases: on October 28, November 3 and 7 and the votes were counted on November 10. The NDA clinched victory by securing 125 seats in the 243-member Assembly, three more than that required to cross the majority mark. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)-led Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) secured 110 seats.
