Rashtriya
Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday hit back at Bihar Chief
Minister Nitish Kumar for his scathing attack on Lalu Prasad, saying that the
Janata Dal (United) will not win even 10 seats if it contests the upcoming
state assembly elections on its own.
Yadav, who
served as Kumar’s deputy in the previous Grand Alliance government, said that the
chief minister’s Samata Party could only manage to win a meager seven seats in
the 1995 assembly elections and a meager two in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls in which
the JD(U) contested in alliance with the Communist Party of India.

“His
(Nitish Kumars) impressive face (pratapi chehra) can’t win for him seats in
double digit if he fights on his own in his entire lifetime It is my claim and
challenge,” Yadav tweeted.
While
addressing a JD(U) virtual rally on Monday, Kumar launched a scathing attack on
RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his family, highlighting statistics to compare the
development in Bihar during 15 years of the “Pati-Patni Raj” (Lalu-Rabri rule)
and under his government since then.
Kumar also took
a potshot at Yadav by referring to his “money without work”, saying that he
asked Yadav to explain where his money came from and decided to part ways (with
the RJD) when he was unable to do so.

Lalu, his
wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, among other members of his family are
accused in the alleged ‘Hotels for Land’ scam and is being probed by the Central
Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Meanwhile,
senior JD(U) leader and MP Rajiv Singh asked Tejashwi in whose name were votes sought
out in the 2010 assembly elections when the RJD were reduced to 22 seats. The
JD(U)-BJP alliance had won four-fifth of the 243-member assembly that year.
The
humiliation was made worse for RJD when Rabri Devi lost both the constituencies
she had contested from. Following the collapse of the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ government
in 2017, the RJD claimed that it was due to them that the JD(U) won 71 seats in
the 2015 polls.
JD(U)
leaders, whoever, refuted the claim, saying that it was Kumar’s leadership which
ensure their overwhelming majority.
The JD(U)
contested the 2015 polls in alliance with the RJD and the Congress.

Tejashwi
also retweeted a series of tweets by the RJD and its leaders with the slogan “na

forget), which highlighted a number of issues faced by the migrant labourers
returning to the state from various parts of the country following the coronavirus-imposed
lockdown.
