No efforts will be spared to nab culprits: EAM Jaishankar to Israeli FM after embassy blast

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to his Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi following the explosion that occurred outside the Israel embassy in New Delhi on Friday, assuring that no effort will be spared to find the culprits behind the incident.
“Spoke just now to Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi about the explosion outside Israeli Embassy. We take this very seriously. The matter is under investigation and no effort will be spared to find culprits,” Jaishankar said in a tweet.
He also gave assurance of providing the highest level of protection for the embassy and Israeli diplomats.
At 5:05 pm, a minor improvised explosive device (IED) explosion occurred at the APJ Abdul Kalam road near Jindal House, Delhi Police said according to PTI.
No injuries were reported and some cars in the vicinity of the blast were damaged.
The IED was found in a flower pot along the pavement outside the embassy, located in the heart of Lutyen’s Delhi, a high-security zone, and appeared to have been thrown out a moving vehicle.
The Israeli government is treating the blast as a terrorist incident.
Following the phone call with Jaishankar, Ashkenazi said, “Indian FM assured me that Indian authorities are committed to security of all Israeli diplomatic staff and will continue to act resolutely to locate all those involved in explosion. I thanked him and promised full cooperation and any help required from Israel”.
In addition to EAM Jaishankar’s call with the Israeli FM, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan spoke with his Israeli counterpart Amb Alon Ushpitz, while MEA Secretary Sanjay Bhattacharyya also spoke with the Israeli Ambassador in India, PTI reported quoting sources.
The CISF has placed its units at all airports, metro stations and government buildings on high alert following the blast.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also been briefed by the Delhi Police about the incident and is closely monitoring the situation.
