Pakistan’s Fawad Khan-starrer The Legend of Maula Jatt beats Indian RRR’s record in UK: Report

The Legends of Maula Jatt, the most recent film by Pakistani actors Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, claims to have beaten the record of the worldwide collection of SS Rajamouli’s RRR in the UK only after 17 days of release.
The claim was made on the film’s official account on Instagram. The post read, “Another day, another achievement! The Legend of Maula Jatt beats the highest-grossing Indian movie of 2022, RRR’s lifetime business in just 17 days in the UK! #TheLegendOfMaulaJatt is in cinemas now, book your tickets today!”
Indian fans started reacting to the Instagram post and commented on it. Some of the comments read, “RRR worldwide:1144 Cr Maula jatt: 127 Cr Comparison Karna tha to dhang se hi kar lete, sirf UK Kyun”. “Fake News”, “U even know the lifetime collection of RRR u ignorant PR team”.

According to a report by Dawn, the Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt made $46,825 on its thirteenth day (October 27) from 56 screens in the UK, well surpassing the earnings of Bollywood films.
The Legend of Maula Jatt is the largest Pakistani film ever produced. It was released two weeks ago, and since then, it has raked in more than PKR 100 crore, making it the highest-grossing Pakistani movie of all time.
Maula Jatt is a Punjabi-language remake of Yunus Malik’s 1979 cult classic of the same name and the film has been directed by Bilal Lashari. The story of The Legend of Maula Jatt centers on the fabled conflict between vicious gangster Noori Natt and local hero Maula Jatt. The movie has an ensemble cast that includes Gohar Rasheed, Humaima Malik, Faris Shafi, and Hamza Ali Abbasi.
RRR, which is directed by SS Rajamouli, made close to Rs 1,200 crore at the Indian box office. The movie ended up becoming the year’s highest-grossing movie in India.

Currently, RRR is being screened in 44 cities across Japan and the movie is being shown on 209 regular screens and 31 Imax screens. Additionally, it is reportedly the biggest Indian movie to open in Japan.
