DC are currently placed at the fifth rung of the IPL 2022 points table with six wins and as many losses. They are scheduled to play the Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians over the next week.
Shaw had earlier this week posted a picture of him in the hospital. The 22-year-old said that he was recovering from fever.

“Admitted in hospital and recovering from fever. Thank you all for your good wishes. Will be back in action soon,” the cricketer wrote, along with a photo of him from the hospital bed.
DC skipper Rishabh Pant, after his team’s win against the Rajasthan Royals, said that Shaw has ‘typhoid or something like that’. The batter, who has been down with a fever and admitted to a hospital, last played on May 1, against Lucknow Super Giants.

Talking about Shaw’s condition, Watson said that he does not know the diagnosis exactly.
“I don’t know his diagnosis exactly. But he has just had this underlying fever for the previous couple of weeks, which they’ve had to really get to the bottom of it to find out exactly what it was. It’s not looking great for him to be available for the last couple of games, which is a big shame because he is an incredibly skilful young batter taking the best bowlers in the world down a lot of the time,” the DC assistant coach told the Grade Cricketer.

He added that not having Shaw is a big loss. The opener has scored 259 runs in nine games this season at 28.78 and strike rate of 162.
“It’s a big loss for us to not have him. The last couple of weeks he has been under the weather. Hopefully, he gets back to full health soon, but unfortunately, it’s not going to be in time for the minimum of last two games that we’ve got,” Watson added.
