A Delhi court on Tuesday Punjabi sent actor-activist Deep Sidhu, arrested in connection with the violence at the Red Fort during the farmers’ tractor rally on Republic Day, to 14-day judicial custody, ANI reported.

Sidhu was arrested by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, which called him a “prominent player” behind the Red Fort violence, on February 9. A day later Iqbal Singh, who was wanted by the Delhi Police in the same case, was arrested by the Special Cell from Punjab’s Hoshiarpur.

He was sent to a seven-day custody by a court after the police alleged he was one of the chief instigators of the violence at Red Fort on January 26. Sidhu was arrested from the Karnal Bypass.

After the January 26 violence, which had left over 500 security personnel injured and one protestor dead, the 36-year-old actor-activist was posting videos on social media.
