Shabana Azmi compares Alia Bhatt to her mother in this throwback pic

Veteran Bollywood actor Shabana Azmi on Tuesday shared a throwback picture with Alia Bhatt‘s mom, Soni Razdan, in her Instagram collection and asked social media users to see how Alia resembles her mother. The still is from Shabana’s critically acclaimed movie from 1983 ‘Mandi’ and also features actor Smita Patil.

Shabana’s Instagram family was not only in agreement with her observation regarding Alia’s appearance but was quick to respond to the throwback moment.

One of the first respondents were actor Sandhya Mridul, who said, “Ohhhh my fav film and you marvellous beautiful women. And wow yes Alia does look just like Soni Razdan… I told her just that when we shot recently.”  

Others on the list were singer Shibani Dandekar, who expressed her agreement by saying “Carbon Copy”.

As far as the movie that the still is from goes, Mandi was directed by veteran and critically acclaimed director Shyam Benegal. The movie was based on the life of sex workers and beautifully portrayed their emotions and socio-political obstacles.

Mandi won several awards, including Filmfare and National awards.
