US President Joe Biden addressed the 76th session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday. In the over 20-minute long speech, Biden spoke about the need for the world to come together for fighting global issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, hunger, climate change and nuclear proliferation. Biden also defended the United States‘ hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan during his first appearance at the UN since assuming office. “I stand here today for the first time in 20 years with the United States not at war,” Biden said.

On social media, Biden’s speech, predictably, drew comparisons to the ones his predecessor Donald Trump had made at the United Nations General Assembly.
Many Twitter users compared the reactions the speeches had elicited from the delegations present at the UN General Assembly .
The entire hall burst into laughter as Trump read out his administration’s “achievements” from a list in 2018. He said, “I don’t believe there has been any administration in the history of this country that has done more in two years — and we’re not even up to two years yet — than our administration”, according to a CNN report.
