Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has placed Bollywood actor-producer Sohail Khan, his son Nirvaan Khan and brother Arbaaz Khan in quarantine at the city’s Taj Lands End hotel, ANI reported.

On Monday, an FIR was filed against the trio at Khar Police station for allegedly flouting COVID-19 norms. As per the complainant, a BMC medical officer, the trio had returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) late in December and was asked to quarantine in a hotel. Instead, they chose to go home.

While Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan returned to the city on December 25, Nirvaan Khan returned on December 30, PTI reported.

As per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the BMC, passengers returning from counties in Europe and the Middle East must stay in institutional quarantine for seven days.

The case was registered against the trio under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, PTI reported quoting a Khar police station official.
