Days after being shot by terrorists, Akash Mehra, son of the owner of Srinagar’s popular eatery Krishna Dhaba, has died at a local hospital on Sunday, PTI reported quoting officials. Former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti extended their condolences to the family of the 22-year-old deceased.

“Very sad news about Akash, son of the owner of Krishna Dhaba, in Srinagar. After a brave fight, he lost the battle to recover from injuries suffered in the earlier attack. May his soul rest in peace and may his family find strength at this difficult time,” Abdullah wrote in a tweet.

“Shocked & saddened to know that Akash Mehra who ran Krishna Dhaba in Srinagar succumbed to his injuries after being shot at by militants. May his soul rest in peace & deepest condolences to the bereaved family,” Mufti tweeted.

Mehra was undergoing treatment at the SMHS Hospital for over a week. He was shot by terrorists on February 17 from a close range and was critically wounded in the right side of his lower armpit and abdomen. Three men have been arrested in the case.

According to PTI, Muslim Janbaz Force, a terror outfit that was active in the early 1990s, had claimed responsibility for the attack.
