After inconclusive fourth-round talk with Centre, Kisan Union say ‘talks have made little progress’

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), an organisation which is at the forefront of the ongoing farmer protests on Thursday stated that the talks between farmer leaders and Centre are moving towards a positive direction.
“Government has given indications over MSP. It seems that their stand over MSP will be fine. The talks have made a little progress.” ANI quoted Rakesh Tikait, Spokesperson, Bharatiya Kisan Union as saying.
While some developments were noted, the union also made it clear that they will not budge for anything less than abolition of newly created farm laws.
“The issue is about the complete roll back of laws. Not only one but discussions will also be held on several issues. Farmers want that the laws be taken back. Government wants to talk about MSP and amendment to the Acts” said Tikait
Azaad Kisan Sangharsh Committee’s Harjinder Singh Tanda on the other hand opine that the pressure exerted by farmers seems to be working and an outcome is expected post the next meeting.
“We are hopeful. The laws are wrong. In the next meeting, we will put pressure on the government. They will have to say that they will take back the laws. In my opinion, it will be finalised in the meeting day after tomorrow.” he added
Farmer leader, Baldev Sirsa noted that the government has accepted to make amendments to the newly drafted bill after Thursday’s meeting.
He also reiterated that amendments alone would not work and their agitation will continue until the laws are repealed, according to ANI.
The statements came in the heels of after the fourth round of conversation at between government and farmer representatives at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan.
