Telugu actor-turned-politician Vijayashanti joins Bharatiya Janata Party, news agency ANI reported. With this she became the second popular star in the South to join the BJP after Khusboo Sundar in Tamil Nadu. Sundar, too, had quit Congress and joined the BJP.
According to a PTI report, Vijayashanti, a former MP, was not active in the Congress party’s activities and programmes in the state for the past few months.
Vijayashanti, who began her political career with BJP, joined TRS Party and switched loyalties to Congress in 2014 before the formation of Telangana state.
She was not happy with the treatment she is being given at the Congress party, PTI had quoted sources.
