Navy Day is celebrated on December 4 to commemorate Operation Trident, which was held during the Indo-Pak war in 1971. It recognizes the valour shown by men in uniform whose contributions made it possible for the country to safeguard its marine borders.

INS Vikramaditya
The aircraft carrier can carry over 30 Indian Air Force jets. The assortment can comprise MiG 29K/ Sea Harrier, Kamov 31, Kamov 28, Sea King, ALH Dhruv and Chetak helicopters. It was commissioned in 2013.
INS Vikrant
The first aircraft carrier to be built in India, often known as Indigenous Aircraft Carrier 1. The name Vikrant is derived from the Sanskrit word that means stepping beyond. It completed basin trials in December 2020.

INS Chakra
The nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine was taken on lease from Russia. It is India’s second nuclear-powered attack submarine bought on lease from the Russians.
INS Arihant
Launched in Visakhapatnam in 2009, the SSBN 80 is India’s lead ship of the Arihant class of nuclear powered ballistic missile submarines.
INS Rana
Also known as the Kashin-II class, it is a guided missile destroyer and was one of the first ships in the Indian Navy to deploy the supersonic cruise missile system. Commissioned in 1982, its name roughly translates to ‘ready for the fight’.

INS Delhi
It is a guided missile destroyer designed and made in India. The warship was commissioned in 1997.
INS Mysore
The Fiji-class cruiser is known for its contributions during Western Fleet Operations. It was commissioned by the Indian Navy in 1957.
