The Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be ceremonially flagged off with an opening ceremony in Japan on Friday night, ending a year’s wait after the games were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Tokyo Olympics is scheduled to be held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Japan, with some preliminary events beginning on July 21.

The opening ceremony of the biggest event in the world will only see a handful of athletes align with six officials representing India. The Indian contingent will be led by flag bearers MC Mary Kom and Manpreet Singh in the opening ceremony. This year, 119 athletes will be representing India.
