Delhi was rocked by two crimes in which a teenager was axed to death by her stalker and an elderly woman was chopped into pieces by a couple who had borrowed money from her. All three accused have been arrested
16-year-old girl killed
In the first incident, a 16-year-old girl, a student of Class XI, was attacked on Monday with an axe by a 21-year-old Pravin who had been stalking her for months. The police arrested the 21-year-old accused on Tuesday. The accused was arrested from his sister’s house in Palwal, Haryana.
“We received a PCR call at 1:30 pm from South Campus police station saying that a girl had been attacked with an axe. She was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital. Unfortunately, she passed away today. The accused was a stalker and has been caught,” South-West District Deputy Commissioner of Police Ingit Pratap Singh said on Tuesday, according to ndtv.com
Pravin, lived in a shanty cluster in Delhi’s Moti Bagh area and was unemployed. He had been stalking the girl past few months. She complained to her father, who works as a watchman, and he then thrashed Pravin.
Enraged by her snub and her father’s assault, Pravin decided to take revenge. Around a month ago, Pravin purchased an axe from RK Puram. On Monday, he attacked the girl who was on her way home and struck here in the face.
The teenager was taken to a hospital but she died of her injuries. The girl’s sister told PTI that her father owns a fruit shop and the victim used to run the shop from 10 am to 2 pm. “The accused used to harass my sister and also said that he will kill her before her birthday,” the girl’s sister said, according to PTI.
Couple kill woman
In the second incident that came to light on Tuesday, a couple killed a 75-year-old woman on Monday and threw her body into a canal in Delhi’s Najafgarh area, police said. The couple owed the woman Rupees one Lakh and were unable to pay it back.
Anil Arya and his wife Tanu, who were arrested, told police that they cut the body into many pieces and threw it in the Najafgarh canal, senior police official Santosh Meena said, according to ndtv.
The accused told the police that the woman was constantly asking the couple to return her money and threatened to lodge a police complaint. The accused then went to her house and strangled her.
