UEFA Champions League 2020: Bayern Munich win their sixth title, beat PSG 1-0
- Kingsley Coman scored the lone goal for Bayern Munich
- Robert Lewandowski is the highest score of this season with 15 goals
- This was Bayern Munich's 11th final
Bayern Munich has won the Champions League on Sunday after a 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain saw the German giants winning their sixth title. Kingsley Coman’s 59th-minute header ensured Bayern triumphed at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.
The victory for Bayern also means they complete a second treble of Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League titles after first achieving the feat in 2013.
Both the team got plenty of big chances throughout the match especially PSG. Kylian Mbappe in particular missed a brilliant chance and shot straight at Manuel Neuer right on the stroke of half-time. PSG was unable to use Bayern’s high line playing. Neymar was denied by an excellent Neuer save after being set up by Mbappe, while Mbappe himself contrived to fire straight at the goalkeeper after David Alaba gited him the ball in the Bayern box.
The lone goal-scorer Kingsley Coman had started his career at PSG in 2012 before moving to Juventus two years later. Although he started from the bench in the quarter and semi-final, he was promoted to the starting line-up in the final which paid off for the German giants.
With the final win, Hansi Flick’s men are now unbeaten in 30 matches. They have now become the first team in Champions League history to win all the matches in the tournament. Although the season started for Bayern on a rough patch under former coach Niko Kovac, Flick was able to revive the team in a spectacular fashion.
