Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Umesh Yadav took a fantastic catch to dismiss Rajasthan Royals’ Devdutt Padikkal in the third over of the 46th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Monday.
Devdutt Padikkal could only manage a weak touch to Umesh Yadav’s full-length delivery. The ball came back to the KKR pacer, who fumbled on the first attempt but managed to hold it off, dismissing the RR opener caught and bowled.
The catch got cricket fans talking, some of whom took to social media to discuss the same.
“Umesh Yadav strikes and gets Devdutt Padikkal, brilliant from Umesh & poor from Padikkal. Umesh been excellent in Powerplays for KKR and Padikkal been below average given the amount of chances by RR,” one person wrote.

KKR restricted RR to a modest 152 for five, despite rival skipper Sanju Samson’s half-century. For RR, Samson’s 54 off 49 balls was the only saving grace, as the side lost wickets at regular intervals.
Tim Southee (2/46) took two wickets, while Umesh Yadav (1/24), Anukul Roy (1/28) and Shivam Mavi (1/33) accounted for one each.
In reply, Nitish Rana (48 not out), Rinku Singh (42 not out) and Shreyas Iyer (34) chipped in with useful contributions to guide KKR to a 7 wicket win.
