UPSC prelims 2020: What happens after the prelims get over

  • The first UPSC prelims session began at 9.30 am and the second at 2.30 pm
  • The UPSC will release the question paper of the exam, which will be available in PDF
  • Candidates clearing the prelims will qualify for UPSC Mains which will be conducted on January 8, 2021

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) prelims examination was conducted on Sunday with the first session beginning at 9.30 am and the second at 2.30 pm.

Over 10.58 lakh candidates had applied for the examination this year. The UPSC will release the question paper of the exam, which will be available in PDF format on upsc.gov.in website, reported NDTV.

Last year, the prelims were held on June 2 and the results were out on July 12, this year’s results, too, are expected to come out in November. 

After the results are declared, a list with the names of the candidates along with their marks will be released. The answer key to the prelims exam paper will be released, as well. 

Candidates clearing the prelims will qualify for UPSC Mains which will be conducted on January 8, 2021 while Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination 2020 will be held on February 28, 2021.

UPSC, on  June 5, announced that it will conduct the prelims examination at 2,569 centers across 72 cities in the country. Over 60,000 candidates had availed the option to change their centers, which the commission had permitted due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
