US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and US Secretary of Defence Mark Esper met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi following the US-India 2+2 Ministerial dialogue on Tuesday, as per ANI.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, EAM S Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval were also present during the meeting, as per ANI report.

Earlier on Tuesday, India and the US had inked a landmark defence agreement that will allow the sharing of high-end military technology, classified satellite data and critical information between the two countries.

Pompeo speaking ahead of the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said, “Our leaders & citizens see with increasing clarity that Chinese Communist Party is no friend to democracy, rule of law, transparency… I’m glad to say India & US are taking all steps to strengthen cooperation against all threats & not just those posed by CCP,” as per ANI report.

The US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and US Secretary of Defence Mark Esper are currently on a visit to India. The two countries have been signing major agreements to boost bilateral defence and military ties, and have also conducted military drills in the Indo-Pacific region to curtail the rising influence of China.

During his visit, Mike Pompeo representing the US engaged in a 2+2 Ministerial dialogue and stated the US will stand with India as they confront threats to their sovereignty.
