The United States on Thursday said it is closely watching the developments along the Line of Control and also condemned the terrorists who sought to infiltrate across the 747km LoC. The US also urged India and Pakistan to reduce tensions along the LoC by reinstating the 2003 ceasefire commitments, PTI reported.

India and Pakistan approved the truce, four years after the Kargil War that left over 500 dead on the Indian side.

In a press conference on Thursday, US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said, “We have continued to follow very closely developments in Jammu and Kashmir. Our policy towards the region has not changed. We call on all parties to reduce tensions along the Line of Control by returning to the 2003 ceasefire commitments.”

“We condemn terrorists who seek to infiltrate across the Line of Control. When it comes to how we will support that, we continue to support direct dialogue between India and Pakistan on Kashmir and other areas of concern,” Price added, PTI reported.

This was in response to a question as to what Secretary of State Antony Blinken is planning to do to ensure that the ceasefire announced between India and Pakistan is maintained.
