Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday recalled the courage and sacrifice of Muktijoddhas, Biranganas, and the armed forces during the 1971 war and highlighted the presence of the President in Dhaka on the occasion of Swarnim Vijay Diwas

The Prime Minister tweeted, “On the 50th Vijay Diwas, I recall the great valour and sacrifice by the Muktijoddhas, Biranganas and bravehearts of the Indian Armed Forces. Together, we fought and defeated oppressive forces. Rashtrapati Ji’s presence in Dhaka is of special significance to every Indian.”

Home Minister Amit Shah called this day a golden chapter in the history of tradition and wished Happy Vijay Diwas.

“I bow to the brave soldiers on the golden jubilee of ‘Vijay Diwas’, a symbol of amazing courage and valor of Indian soldiers. “On this day in 1971, the Indian Army had added a golden chapter in the history of the tradition of preserving human values ​​by defeating the enemies. Happy Vijay Diwas to all.” Amit Shah tweeted in Hindi.

Defence minister Rajnath Singh remembered the courage and sacrifice of the armed forces during the 1971 war and called it a “golden chapter in India’s military history”.

Taking to Twitter, the Defence Minister said, “On the occasion of ‘Swarnim Vijay Diwas’ we remember the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces during the 1971 war. The 1971 war is the golden chapter in India’s military history. We are proud of our armed forces and their achievements.”

He also shared a picture of “Instrument of Surrender” and said, “This day, that year!”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lighted the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal from the Eternal Flame at the National War Memorial in December last year. He also lighted four flames that would go in separate directions.

Since then, these four flames have traveled across the nation, including to Siachen, Kanyakumari, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Longewala, the Rann of Kutch, and Agartala.

On Thursday at 10:30 a.m., Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the homage and reception ceremony of Swarnim Vijay Mashaals at the National War Memorial in the national capital.
