Veteran industrialist Rahul Bajaj died at 83. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian honour, in 2001. Bajaj was a Rajya Sabha member as well. For more than 40 years, he was the chairman of the Bajaj Group. In April of last year, Rahul Bajaj stepped down as chairman of Bajaj Auto and became Chairman Emeritus of the firm.

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, industrialist Anand Mahindra, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and former cricketer and current BJP leader Gautam Gambhir tweeted out their condolences.
