India on Tuesday successfully testfired the Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) System. The Missile system secured a direct hit on its target during the trial. News agency ANI not only uploaded file picture of the QRSAM but also a video, as well. This was the second test trial of the QRSAM system, with the first one being on November 13.
While the November 13 missile proved the Radar and Missile capabilities with a direct hit, Tuesday’s test demonstrated the warhead performance on proximity detection.
After the successful test, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO on performing the action. “Congratulations to @DRDO_India for two back to back successful test trials of Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile.

The November 13 launch took place from ITR Chandipur at 1550 hrs off the Odisha Coast. The missile is propelled by a single-stage solid-propellant rocket motor and uses all indigenous subsystems, a Ministry of Defence statement read.

“The Missile is canisterised for transportation and launch using a mobile launcher capable of carrying 6 canisterised missiles,” the statement continued.
“All QRSAM weapon system elements like Battery Multifunction Radar, Battery Surveillance Radar, Battery Command Post Vehicle and Mobile Launcher were deployed in the flight test. The system is capable of detecting and tracking targets on the move and engaging target with short halts. The system is designed to give air defence coverage against strike columns of Indian Army,” the Ministry of Defence said.
The radar tracked the Banshee target from farthest range and missile was launched when target was within kill zone and achieved the direct hit with terminal active homing by RF Seeker guidance.
