Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, on the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti, participated in the “Shabad
Kirtan” after offering prayers at the Shri Guru Ravidas Vishram Dham Mandir in
Delhi’s Karol Bagh on Wednesday. In a video shared by the prime minister on
Twitter, he can be seen playing a green musical instrument as women devotees
sing along.

Sharing the video
on Twitter, Modi captioned it: “Very special moments at the Shri Guru Ravidas
Vishram Dham Mandir in Delhi.” Watch the video here:

Modi also shared a
news report on Twitter about ongoing beautification and expansion works
underway at Saint Ravidas’ birthplace in Varanasi, the constituency Prime
Minister Narendra Modi represents in the Lok Sabha.

Ravidas Jayanti
sees thousands of devotees go to Varanasi to pray at the saint’s birthplace. Elections
in Punjab were moved from February 14 to February 20 on account of Ravidas
Jayanti.

Saint Ravidas was
a 15th Century mystic poet and social reformer. The festival has a
following among members of the Ravidassia religion.

Punjab goes to
polls
on February 20 to elect its 117-member Assembly. Of the five states going
to polls between February and March, Punjab is the only state with a non-BJP
government. The prime minister visited Punjab for a poll campaign in Jalandhar
recently.

Speaking at the
rally, the prime minister slammed the Congress government over the security
situation in the state. He said that he was unable to visit the Tripurmalini
Devi Shakti Peeth because the state police were unable to make arrangements. “I
wanted to offer prayers at Tripurmalini Devi Shakti Peeth after this event but
the administration and the police said they will not be able to make the
arrangements,” the prime minister said.

Modi further said
that the BJP was happy because Captain Amarinder Singh was with his party now. “We
are happy that today we have Captain Amarinder Singh with us,” he said.

Amarinder Singh, a
long-time Congressman and the former chief minister of Punjab, resigned his
post in 2021 and went on to form a new outfit called the Punjab Lok Congress.
Singh’s new outfit is contesting the Punjab Assembly polls in alliance with the
BJP.
