- Raut’s supporters gathered outside his home as the search was underway
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay
Raut’s home was searched by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Sunday. The ED
went to search Raut’s home after he did not appear for two summonses issued to
him by the financial crime investigating agency. The ED is probing Raut for a
case involving money laundering. While the ED was going through Sanjay Raut’s
place, some of his supporters gathered outside his house and chanted slogans.
In the following video, Sanjay Raut, clad in a pink shirt, can be seen waving
to supporters from a window before he walks back into the house and the window
is closed.
The case for which
Sanjay Raut is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate deals with the
redevelopment of a chawl. Referred to as the Patra Chawl land scam case, the ED’s
probe extends to Sanjay Raut’s wife and “associates”.

Raut, 60, the
executive editor of Saamana, stood strong with Uddhav Thackeray when current
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde rebelled within party ranks and joined
hands with the BJP along with a majority of Shiv Sena MLAs to form a new
government in the state. Now, Raut has dubbed the ED investigation against him
as political vendetta.
“I have nothing to do
with any scam. I am saying this by taking the oath of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray.
Balasaheb taught us to fight. I will continue to fight for the Shiv Sena,” Raut
tweeted in Marathi. “False action, false evidence. I will not leave Shiv Sena. Even
if I die, I will not surrender. Jai Maharashtra.”

BJP MLA Ram Kadam said, “Why is he scared of the Enforcement Directorate? If he
is innocent. He has all the time to give press conference but no time to visit
a probe agency office for questioning.”
