US Navy officials were seen singing a popular Hindi song at a
meeting between United States Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Michael M Gilday
and India’s Ambassador to the United States, Taranjeet Singh Sandhu, in a video
put up on Twitter by the latter on Saturday.

Sandhu shared the video with the caption, “This is a
friendship bond that cannot be broken ever”, in both Hindi and English.

In a later tweet, he thanked the US Navy Band for a ‘superb performance’
on the occasion.

The song, originally composed and sung by renowned composer
AR Rahman for ‘Swades’ (2004), was recreated by the Navy members, as they presented
the number in their uniforms.

1:30 minutes in length, the clip has garnered 206,000 views,
15,400 likes and close to 4,000 retweets so far.

“The @usnavyband Sea Chanters share a song of happiness and
love at a small performance for the @USNavyCNO and the Ambassador of India to
the United States, @SandhuTaranjitS. The Navy Band has been connecting the @USNavy”
to our partner nations since 1925! #HappyHoli”, the US Navy Band tweeted.

“Together, we will promote a free, open & inclusive
rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific and beyond. I look forward to our two
navies’ continued cooperation”, CNO Michael M Gilday was quoted by ANI as saying.

The diplomatic and trade relations between India and the US have found prominence in recent months, with the former largely being looked at as a counterweight to China in the Asia-Pacific region by the latter.

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, too, visited India earlier on March 19 on a three-day tour.
