We have decided to repeal all three farm laws: PM Modi

  • PM Modi requested the protesting farmers to return back to their homes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the centre has decided to repeal all three farm laws. This decision comes almost one year after farmers held a series of sit-in protests against the three controversial farm laws in Delhi and across the country.

PM Modi requested the protesting farmers to return back to their homes.

“A majority of farmers are small scale farmers. And to help them, we took on a multi-faceted approach from seed technology, crop insurance schemes,” PM said.

He also highlighted his government’s measures to benefit small farmers. “I have experienced farmers’ difficulties, challenges from very close quarters in my five decades of public life,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi is all set to inaugurate government schemes relating to irrigation in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba.

The three laws are the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020; and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020.
