West Bengal polls: Jangipara constituency elected a TMC candidate in 2016

The Jangipara assembly constituency is currently held by Trinamool Congress MLA Snehasis Chakraborty, who defeated Pobitra Singha Roy of CPM in 2016. The seat, one of West Bengal’s 294 assembly constituencies, falls under the Sreerampur Lok Sabha constituency. 

The Jangipara assembly constituency is politically leaned towards the TMC led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, however, this was not the case until 2011. Before that, Jangipara was a CPI(M) led constituency.
