The Jangipara assembly constituency is currently held by Trinamool Congress MLA Snehasis Chakraborty, who defeated Pobitra Singha Roy of CPM in 2016. The seat, one of West Bengal’s 294 assembly constituencies, falls under the Sreerampur Lok Sabha constituency.
