As the game gets tricky for the West Bengal assembly election, trading barbs have become an everyday phenomenon with respective leaders pulling all stops to woo the voters. A day after PM Narendra Modi addressed rallies in parts of Bengal and Assam, CM Mamata Banerjee, at a rally in East Midnapore on Friday, launched another attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She not only urged the voters to not bring BJP to power but also cast them out.

Mamata, who was allegedly attacked last week during an election rally, sustained injuries and was admitted to the SSKM hospital. It took her only three days to get back on the road, in a wheelchair. Although the alleged attackers have not yet been identified, Trinamool Congress has pinned the blame on BJP, who has denied any involvement.

Talking about the injury, Mamata said: “Earlier, I was hit on head, this time rivals injured my foot, but I am a street fighter.”

“Bid farewell to BJP, we don’t want BJP. We don’t want to see Modi’s face. We don’t want riots, looters, Duryodhan, Dushasana, Mir Jafar,” news agency ANI quoted Mamata as saying.

While Mamata is bringing the fight to the BJP in Bengal polls, a lot of political heavyweight belonging to the Trinamool Congress have been jumping ships. Calling them traitors, Mamata said: “TMC traitors given assembly poll tickets by BJP, saffron party old-timers shedding tears at home.”

West Bengal goes to polls in eight phases, with the first phase polling on March 27. The counting of votes will be done on May 2.
