The Indian government has come up with a new digital portal that will provide social security to people in the unorganised sector. The portal, titled e-shram, will have unorganised workers in a database and will become the conduit for bringing out social security schemes for the section. People willing to register on the portal will have to get cards made and this in turn will allow them to access a number of government services.

All workers registered under e-shram will get accident insurance through the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). To register on the e-shram portal, one has to fill details including name, job, address, educational qualification, skills and family information.
