On%20the%2025th%20of%20Kislev%20in%20the%20year%203622%20from%20creation%2C%20the%20Maccabees%20liberated%20the%20Holy%20Temple%20in%20Jerusalem%2C%20after%20defeating%20the%20vastly%20more%20numerous%20and%20powerful%20armies%20of%20the%20Syrian-Greek%20king%20Antiochus%20IV%2C%20who%20had%20tried%20to%20forcefully%20uproot%20the%20beliefs%20and%20practices%20of%20Judaism%20from%20the%20people%20of%20Israel.%20The%20victorious%20Jews%20repaired%2C%20cleansed%20and%20rededicated%20the%20Temple%20to%20the%20service%20of%20G-d.%20But%20all%20the%20Temple%27s%20oil%20had%20been%20defiled%20by%20the%20pagan%20invaders%3B%20when%20the%20Jews%20sought%20to%20light%20the%20Temple%27s%20menorah%2C%20they%20found%20only%20one%20small%20cruse%20of%20ritually%20pure%20olive%20oil.%20Miraculously%2C%20the%20one-day%20supply%20burned%20for%20eight%20days%2C%20until%20new%2C%20pure%20oil%20could%20be%20obtained.
Today%20is%20Rosh%20Chodesh%20for%20the%20month%20of%20Tevet.%20The%20Yaaleh%20V%27yavo%20prayer%20is%20added%20to%20the%20Amidah%20and%20to%20Grace%20After%20Meals%2C%20and%20the%20additional%20Musaf%20prayer%20is%20said.
Many%20have%20the%20custom%20to%20mark%20Rosh%20Chodesh%20with%20a%20festive%20meal%20and%20reduced%20work%20activity.%20The%20latter%20custom%20is%20prevalent%20amongst%20women%2C%20who%20have%20a%20special%20affinity%20with%20Rosh%20Chodesh-%20the%20month%20being%20the%20feminine%20aspect%20of%20the%20Jewish%20Calendar.%26nbsp%3B
