A total lunar eclipse will occur today, however, it will not be visible from most parts of India. The eclipse could be seen in northeastern India, some parts of West Bengal, coastal parts of Odisha and Andaman and Nicobar Islands for a short duration of time. This the first lunar eclipse of 2021.

In India, the partial phase of the eclipse will begin at 3.15 pm and end at 6.23pm. The total phase will be from 4.39 pm to 4.58 pm. The total duration is 5 hours, 2 minutes

Today’s lunar eclipse also coincides with supermoon and a blood moon, making it a supercelestial event.
