When and where to watch Independence Day speech by Indian PM Narendra Modi?

India’s Independence Day is fast approaching. This year is going to be extra special as the 75th anniversary of India’s independence from the British is being commemorated this year. On August 15, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give his ninth speech in a row. 

Prior to the Independence Day celebrations, Delhi Police has undertaken strict security precautions. The Delhi Police is on high alert in advance of 75 years of independence, utilising high-tech cameras and a large police presence.

When and where to watch the speech by PM Modi?

Around 7:30 AM, national public broadcaster Doordarshan will air a live broadcast of PM Modi’s speech. On its YouTube site and Twitter account, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) will also webcast the speech live. The national address will also be broadcast on the PMO’s official YouTube account.

In addition to this, the live broadcast will be streamed on the official Facebook accounts of PM Modi, AIR, and Doordarshan. Live updates on the speech will also be available on the PMO’s Twitter account.

The government of India launched the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaign in advance of Independence Day 2022 to commemorate and celebrate 75 years of independence. 

The PM will speak to the country on Monday from the renowned Red Fort. It will be his ninth Independence Day speech in a row. After he hoists the tricolour at the iconic Red Fort, PM Modi’s speech is anticipated to start.

On August 15, 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister, delivered a momentous speech ‘Tryst with Destiny’ in the Indian Constituent Assembly that symbolised the end of British rule. The Prime Minister’s speech at the Red Fort in Delhi at Independence Day is an event of great national and political significance.
