The National Girl Child Day is celebrated on January 24, every year in India. It was launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Government of India in 2008 with the purpose of spreading awareness among the people about the miseries and inequalities that the women have to face in the country. The day is celebrated all over the nation by organising workshops and awareness campaigns such as %u2018Save the Girl Child%u2019 and many more. The theme in 2019 was %u201C Empowering girls for a brighter tomorrow.%u201D
