G. K. Pillai was an Indian actor and former army and military commander who was  best known  for his contributions to Malayalam films. He has been acting for 65 years and has appeared in over 325 Malayalam films. He  has significantly improved the antagonist’s role in Indian cinema and television. 

He was born in Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram, and served in the Indian Army and Navy before entering the film industry. With the release of “Snehaseema” in 1954, he made his Malayalam film debut. SS Rajan directed the film, which was written by Ponkunnam Varkey.

GK Pillai drew the attention of moviegoers by primarily portraying villains. He was also a familiar face in historical films such as “Thacholi Aambu,” “Palattu Kunjikannan,” and even the enduring “Padayottam,” which was released in 1982 and was also South India’s first 70mm picture. He was quite active in M-Town until the late 1980s, then faded from view during the 1990s, returning in the 2000s for his second innings. Over the course of his career, he has appeared in several acclaimed movies, including “Ashwamedham,” “Aromalunni,” “Chola,” “Anakkalari,” and “Karyasthan.”

GK Pillai went on to become a household name among Kerala’s television viewers. He made his television debut in the horror series “Kadamattathu Kathanar” in 2004 and rose to prominence in the 2011 soap “Kukumapoovu” as Colonel Jagannatha Varma, Jayanthi’s father. 

Ulpalakshi Amma, GK Pillai’s wife, passed away a few years ago. Prathapachandran, Chandramohan, Priyadarshan, Sreekala, Sreelekha, and Sreekumari are his children. The morning of Friday December 31, GK Pillai died.  He was known for his unique method of delivering speeches. The 97-year-old died in his home in Idava, Thiruvananthapuram, near Varkala. Pillai was well-known for his parts in “vadakkanpaattu” films, which are a type of cinema that features traditional ballads from the Middle Ages. Othenente Makan, Thumbolarcha, and Thacholi Ambu are only a few of them.

The films Kannoor Deluxe, Mindapennu, Danger Biscuit, Lottery Ticket, Nairu Pidicha Pulivalu, and Lightweight House feature a number of his outstanding performances. He began performing in television shows in the mid-2000s. For his work on television, he got three lifetime achievement awards from three different channels.
