Will become an IAF Pilot, says deceased Wing Commanders 12-year-old

As the nation tries to cope with the tragic loss of
Wing Commander Prithvi Singh Chauhan, CDS General Bipin Rawat and 11 others on
the Mi-17V5 helicopter,
two young kids from Agra also bid farewell to the father they lost.

Wing Commander Prithvi Singh Chauhan was cremated in
Agra’s Tajganj crematorium on December 11. Hundreds of people gathered around
to pay tribute to Chauhan. His 7-year-old son, Aviraj, lit the pyre and took part
in his father’s last rites. In a heart-breaking video, Aviraj was also seen
saluting his father’s mortal remains and then proceeded to wear Chauhan’s air
force cap. Chauhan’s wife, Kamini then took the cap and put it on their daughter
Aaradhya’s head.

12-year-old and a class seventh student Aaradhya spoke
to the media persons on site and said that she will follow her father’s footsteps
and join the Indian Air Force as a pilot. She further added that her father was
her idol, who would motivate her to have a sharp focus on her goals.

The late officer was paid tributes along with the
customary gun salute. His remains arrived at the Agra Airport where the defence
personnel were waiting to receive Chauhan’s casket.

Wing Commander Prithvi Singh Chauhan was a brother of
four sisters, and the youngest sibling. His 74-year-old father shared that Chauhan
had planned to visit his family in Agra in January 2022.

Originally brought up in Madhya Pradesh, Chauhan moved
to Agra in 2006 along with his family. He went to the National Defence Academy for
his training and joined the Indian Air Force in the year 2000. Chauhan married
Kamini in 2007.

The devastating helicopter crash sent shivers down the
spine of the entire nation. An investigation for the same is underway, although
many reports call bad weather the culprit.
