Suspect killed, cop injured during hostage situation at New Jersey pharmacy

A hostage situation inside a New Jersey pharmacy ended with a suspect dead and at least one cop injured. 

The incident took place inside the pharmacy at a New Jersey strip mall in Keansburg around 3.30 pm on Thursday.

The unidentified suspect, wielding a knife, took a hostage before he was shot by police, the mayor told reporters. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A cop, who was injured in the incident, was transported to Bayshore Emergency Medical Service. His condition remained unknown. It also remained unclear if anyone else was injured during the incident.
