Schools in Punjab, UP, Sikkim to reopen today with COVID-19 guidelines
- Schools will have to adhere to COVID-19 50% attendance in the classes
- In Uttar Pradesh, classes will be held in shifts
- In Punjab, schools will remain open for three hours a day
Schools in three states, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Sikkim, will reopen partially in areas outside containment zones from Monday for class 9th to 12th students as part of the Unlock 5 guidelines of the Centre.
According to the guidelines, school managements have to adhere to COVID-19 protocol, including limiting attendance in the classes to 50% per day to maintain social distancing. Students attending the school need to have written consent of their parents.
In Uttar Pradesh, classes will be held in shifts and all guidelines, including physical distancing and sanitisation of school building will have to be followed by schools.
In Punjab, schools will remain open for three hours a day. The guidelines states that even though classes will resume, the online learning should continue.
In Sikkim, the winter holidays have been cancelled for this year, and classes will be held six days a week, with Saturday being a half day. The current academic session will end on February 13, 2021, and the next will start two days after, on February 15.
