Watch: Firefighters risk lives to fight flames at oil well disaster in Assam

  • An explosion occurred in an Oil India plant in Baghjan, Tinsukia  district

Three foreign oil well disaster experts were injured in
explosion that took place at Baghjan in Assam’s Tinsukia, news agency ANI reported.

“An
explosion occurred near well no.5 of Oil India in Baghjan, Tinsukia
district. Three foreign experts who were at the site injured,” Tridip
Hazarika, Oil India Limited’s spokesperson told ANI. 

Firefighters soon reached the spot and have been fighting to douse the fire coming out of well number five of Oil India in Baghjan, Tinsukia.

The entire incident has been captured in a video, where it can be seen water being sprayed in the area where the explosion occurred.

Five officials can also be seen in the video, who are trying to douse the fire, and the steam is also seen escaping from the well.

Experts had been involved in the dousing of the well fire raging for over a month now.

However, the experts who sustained injuries today were indentified as Anthony Steven Reynolds, Doug Dallas and Craig Neil Duncan, they have been rushed to a hospital at Dibrugarh, Oil
India Limited’s senior manager, public affairs, Jayanata Bormudoi, said.
