Mirrored sauna malfunctions in South Korean Hotel, authorities issue apology

A private hotel, The Grand Josun, in South Korea had to issue an apology due to malfunctions in their sauna mirrors. The complaint was identified through a local blog. The blinds of the sauna had been drawn up for part of the day. This made the interiors of the women’s sauna visible to people outside on the street. 

As per Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, the local police was called in when the guests started complaining about this.

A Korean blogger shared his experience on his blog.

He he visited Jeju Island for his honeymoon but “my honeymoon turned out to be the worst memory of my life. On my last day, I went for a walk but as I looked at the windows of the sauna I found out that I was able to see inside the sauna from outside. I could see the thermometer inside the sauna through the windows.”

The couple was shocked to find this out and said that they might have used bathrooms and showers in front of many people “gives me chills and we’re getting therapy treatment.”

The new five-star hotel issued the statement on February 18 saying, “We’re deeply sorry for causing any inconveniences to our customers in using some facilities at the women’s sauna at the Grand Josun Jeju Hill suite for missing mirror coating for some windows and [problems in] operating the blinds.” 

Further explaining the mechanism of the mirror in the sauna, they said, “The sauna’s operation has been suspended and we’re closely checking deficiencies and taking immediate action to correct them.”

The police are currently going through CCTV footage to check if any guests had been exposed while the mirrors were malfunctioning. Further, the police are also trying to find out if any persons were illegally filmed or pictured from outside.
