November 5 is observed as National Love Your Red Hair Day in the USA, a day encouraging redheads to appreciate their natural beauty. The day celebrates the beauty of those gorgeous red tresses annually. Redheads get the chance to show off the unique qualities of their red hair as many redheads feel like outcasts for having red hair. The celebration empowers them to feel confident, look amazing and rock their beauty.

Less than two percent of the world population is crowned with red hair, with a higher frequency of redheads found in Northern or Northwestern Europe.

History

In 2005, a Redhead Day festival was held in The Netherlands, which attracted visitors from over 80 different countries, all redheads, of course.

National Love Your Red Hair Day was started by two sisters with ginger hair to empower redheads to embrace those red tresses!

In August 2015, Stephanie and Adrienne Vendetti, who are co-founders of the webpage “How to be a Redhead.” They noticed a rise in bullying of people with red hair, with days like “Kick a Ginger Day” being posted online.

They decided to create their day to counteract the negativity with something positive. The sisters wanted to create a day that empower redheads to embrace and love their hair. Stephanie Vendetti said ‘‘most of all, it’s a reminder for women everywhere, redhead or not, to love their unique qualities.”

Various lectures, workshops, and demonstrations are organized for red-haired people. People gather at these events wearing red clothes. Every year, the day is celebrated and events are attended by thousands of redheads from all over the world.
