Telangana minister’s reply to complaint on biryani has the internet in splits

  • A Twitter user showed a picture of his biryani that had chicken leg piece missing, and also tagged KTR
  • He had ordered the food through a food delivery app
  • KTR replied, "And why am I tagged on this brother? What did you expect me to do”

KT Rama Rao, the Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development of Telangana, on Twitter was at the receiving of a barrage of complaints from the people of Hyderabad about the dish biryani. It all began after a user, who was unsatisfied with the biryani he ordered through a food delivery app, voiced his grievance on social media.

A Twitter user named Thotakuri Raghupathi shared a picture of the share biryani that he had received, showing the dish missing “(chicken) leg piece and extra masala. He also tagged the food delivery company. Things did not end there. Raghupathi also tagged Rao’s official handle.

KT Rama Rao, or popularly called KTR, responded to Raghupathi’s tweet, saying, “And why am I tagged on this brother? What did you expect me to do” followed by two emoticons, showing his confusion. Rao’s reply drew a lot of attention among the users, and this may have also prompted Raghupathi to delete his tweet.

Rao has been active on the social media platform, dealing with things related to COVID-19 and the pandemic. Member of Parliament (MP) of Hyderabad Asaduddin Owaisin reacted to Rao’s tweet, saying, “must immediately respond”, addressing Rao. “must say that @MinisterKTR & his team have been responding to the medical needs of people during this pandemic mashallah”.

Social media users were quick to react to the situation reminding people about how serious the Hyderabadis were about their biryani. As one user said, “Getting good biryani truly a matter of national importance”.
