Elon Musk, Tesla
CEO and soon-to-be owner of social media giant Twitter, tweeted Wednesday that
he can no longer vote for Democrats and will vote Republican. “In the past, I
voted Democrat because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have
become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and
will vote Republican
. Now, watch their dirty tricks against me unfold,” he
tweeted.

Musk, whose politics
has been consistently confounding, has been on an attack on the Democrats for a
while. Therefore, his decision to not vote for Democrats hardly comes as a
surprise.  A vocal critic of President
Joe Biden
, Musk is anti-union and against the imposition of a billionaire tax.

Elon Musk has also
been critical of Twitter for its ‘left wing bias’. Speaking at the All In
Summit in Miami on Monday, Musk said, “I would classify myself as a moderate,
neither Republican of Democrat. In fact, I have voted overwhelmingly for
Democrats historically. Overwhelmingly. I might never have voted Republican.
Now, this election? I will.”

The 50-year-old
billionaire who calls himself a “free-speech absolutist” acquired Twitter as
what he says is a “moderate takeover” and not a right-wing takeover, but then
went on to slam Democrats. “The Democratic party is overly controlled by the
unions and the trial lawyers, particularly the class-action lawyers.”

Musk has had
frequent Twitter confrontations with Democrats. About Biden, Musk had once said
the real president is one who controls the teleprompter.

Recently, Musk and
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, aka AOC, quarrelled on Twitter. AOC, D-NY, had
tweeted: “Tired of having to collectively stress about what explosion of hate
crimes is happening bc some billionaire with an ego problem unilaterally
controls a massive communication platform and skews it because Tucker Carlson
or Peter Thiel took him to dinner and made him special.”

To this, Musk
wrote: “Stop hitting on me, I am really shy.” But AOC clapped back saying, “I
was talking about Zuckerberg, but ok.”
