Accusations a part of Russophobia, says Kremlin on US cyber attacks
- Russia has denied their involvement in cyber attacks on the US
- US lawmakers are expecting a tough response to the hack
- Major US government agencies, including the Treasury, were reportedly hit
The Kremlin has refused any involvement in recent cyber attacks on the
United States, saying American accusations lacked evidence, AFP reported.
US lawmakers are persistent on a tough response to the cyber attack on
government agencies. They have criticised US President Donald Trump’s
reluctance to acknowledge Russia’s involvement in the hack.
“Russia is not involved in these attacks,” President Vladimir
Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Monday.
The attackers managed to breach computer networks using enterprise
management network software made by the Texas-based IT company SolarWinds.

Major US government agencies, including the Treasury, were reportedly hit
by the hack.
“Any accusations of Russia’s involvement are absolutely unfounded
and are a continuation of blind Russophobia,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin has previously denied US claims that Russian intelligence
was behind cyber attacks targeting Ukraine’s power grid, the 2017 French
election and the 2018 Winter Olympic Games among other hacks.
