Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown ruled out for season with wrist injury

In a major blow to Boston Celtics, forward Jaylen Brown will miss the remainder of the season with a torn wrist ligaments, the NBA team announced on Monday.

Previously, the Celtics star had been sidelined by an ankle injury suffered during a collision with teammate Jayson Tatum in a loss to Portland on May 2.

But now the Celtics has confirmed that Brown would require surgery to repair ligaments in his left wrist, however, it was not clear when Brown sustained the injury.

“This past weekend Celtics forward Jaylen Brown was diagnosed with a torn scapholunate ligament in his left wrist,” the Celtics said, AFP reported.

“Brown is expected to have the torn ligament surgically repaired later this week, and will be out for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.”

Currently, seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 35-33 record, the Celtic are likely to miss out on an automatic spot in the playoffs but can still reach the postseason.

Brown has averaged a career-high 24.7 points per game with six rebounds and 3.4 assists from 58 games this season.
