Some shaky umpiring by home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi has caused Chicago Cubs manager David Ross to be ejected in the second inning against the San Diego Padres on Monday night.

It was the 12th ejection of Ross’ managerial career.

Ross was standing up for Kyle Hendricks as he was not getting any calls, as it appeared that Blake Snell was getting a much better deal earlier in the ballgame.

While Ross was yelling at the umpire, he gestured that Cuzzi had missed at least five calls that went against the Cubs during the early portion of the contest.

“If it’s eight inches off the outside corner, you better swing,” Rick Sutcliffe said early in the telecast, joking about the questionable strike zone.

The Padres ended up scoring three runs in the inning to take the 3-0 lead.

Fans reacted to the incident on social media, questioning the decision. A person wrote, “Forgot to tell you tonight is opposite night. Balls are strikes, strikes are balls. The game is made up and the points don’t matter.”

Meanwhile another fan wrote, “Not hard to see why Ross got tossed for second time this season when looking at the called strikes Snell has been getting the first two innings. It’s one thing when both teams’ pitchers/hitters are working with the same zone. A look at Snell’s called Ks vs. Hendricks’ balls”
